Our Story
Understanding Bias: A Foundation for Anti-Racism

Bias is a product of our environment, shaped by sociological, colonial forces and cultural conditioning. While these biases may form naturally, acting on them is neither acceptable nor inevitable. The path to anti-racism involves moving beyond passive non-racism to actively dismantling biases that uphold systemic injustice.
Unconscious bias, as discussed in Gino et al.’s Harvard Business Review article, is a ‘normal’ response to our surroundings but is neither involuntary nor fixed. Recognizing that our brains are malleable and capable of positive change is key to effective anti-bias training and helps foster a growth-oriented approach to reducing bias.
